NOTICES |
Starting on June 1, Saint Luke’s will change to its summer schedule,
with a single combined Eucharist at 9:00 AM.
This will help us avoid the accumulation of heat that builds up in the
Church during the summer months.

We have come to the end of another choir season, the fourth in my tenure
at St. Luke's. I am very happy with the choir's many accomplishments this
year. Our repertory and our
musicianship continue to increase. In
addition to the Sunday morning services, we have sung the expanded Christmas Eve
service -- with a particularly gratifying turnout -- and seen increased
participation by the choir and congregation in Lent and Holy Week.
This season, our schedule of four Evensongs included the Men's Evensong
in October -- in which more and more singers from Southern California want to
participate -- and the first-ever Women's Evensong in Lent, which was very well
received. The St. Luke's Choir sang
in January and May, and this most recent service, despite the heat, had an
extraordinary choir and a very enthusiastic congregation.
In December, we also hosted the Pasadena Boys Choir, in a sold-out
performance. They are looking forward to doing it again this year.
During the summer, I will have two vacation Sundays, during which Pat
Kelly will be filling in. The choir
is off until September, but you will be seeing many of them on Sunday mornings
when they are volunteering to lead the services with solos and small groups.
As always, we thank the rector and the congregation for their continued
support.

The
printer who supplied the green blanks for the printed Mustard Seed is no longer
in business, and the big printers consider St Luke’s too small a client to
service, except at an exorbitant cost.
Consequently, those who receive the Mustard Seed by mail will find that
it is no longer in color.
This is to save costs; but should
anyone know of a printer who will produce our colored blanks at a reduced
price—or better yet, as a contribution—please let us know so we can go green
again.
